Another Amanda photo! I’ve been playing around with textures and things quite recently. I haven’t found my key editing style yet but I think I’m getting there. I’ve just been experimenting with everything I possible can in photoshop, it’s just all trial and error in my opinion. I’ve gotten quite good at retouching, I think. :) I tried to give this a classic and painterly feel. Do you think I’ve accomplished that?

This was the first time that I’ve ever worked with such a tall and slender model! She was amazing and need little to no direction, she just fit right into the scene I pictured in my head. I had wanted to do something more high fashion since I had only been doing very alternative/conceptual type shoots. She just fit the bill. Her subtle and mysterious facial expressions are really quite amazing. I absolutely love the way that our photos turned out and hope to work with her again in the future. Her friend and fellow model did her hair. I fell in love with it!

This is one of my regular models - Jes. She is one of - if not the - first model[s] I have ever sought out on and worked with on Model Mayhem when I first started to work towards making a fashion/portraiture portfolio. She’s really fun and easy to work with. She’s filled with many great ideas and poses, and will try anything that will get us a great shot. Her strongest point is most definitely her facial expressions. I believe that the facial expression is key. You may have a good pose, be gorgeous, and have amazing threads on but if your facial expression doesn’t match the scene, the feel of the photo is ruined.

Inspiration#1 - Zhang Jingna
If it wasn’t for Zhang Jingna’s beautiful imagery I would have never thought about photography as a glamorous or fashionable thing. I first saw her work on Deviantart as “zemotion” in my junior year of high school. Before then, I was set to become a documentary photographer. I was simply blown away by her work and went into a fashion/fine art direction ever since.
